Our founder, Trevor St Baker has been awarded in February 2021 an honorary Doctor of Engineering from the University of Queensland, recognising his lifelong contribution to the Australian electricity sector and greater Australian community through his business and philanthropic efforts. Trevor has supported early-stage companies in the energy and e-mobility space, allowing for innovation to flourish with his support and expertise.

CEO Rodger Whitby says, “it is an honour to work with Trevor, our team and investee companies at the St Baker Energy Innovation Fund are inspired by his passion every day.” From St Baker Energy Innovation Fund Chairman, Robert Pritchard, “The St Baker Energy Innovation Fund is delighted to see Trevor recognized for his contributions to the energy and e-mobility sector in this way.”

University of Queensland Executive Dean of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology, Professor Vicki Chen, described Mr St Baker as a “towering figure” in the electricity sector.

“Mr St Baker’s role breaking new ground in the energy sector over more than 50 years has benefitted the entire industry and the nation,” Professor Chen said.

“His work has supported innovation in our field, seen electricity supplies become more secure across the nation, and created thousands of jobs in technology, engineering and energy.”

“As well as being a forward-thinking businessperson, Trevor and his wife Judith have made significant contributions to skin cancer research, technology, the arts, and Indigenous education through their philanthropic work.”

Congratulations Trevor St Baker on being awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from the University of Queensland. Director of TCRT and founder of the St Baker Energy Innovation Fund, Trevor St Baker has been leading innovation for over 50 years, now disrupting the defence industry with TCRT’s innovative material technology. Fellow TCRT director, Victor Hoog Antik says, “The award acknowledges his stellar achievements over more than 50 years in the Australian electricity market not to mention his herculean recent efforts to build a portfolio of early stage companies in the disruptive energy and electric transport businesses.”

Congratulations Trevor St Baker on being awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from the University of Queensland. Chairman of Printed Energy and founder of the St Baker Energy Innovation Fund, Trevor St Baker has brought crucial and invaluable insight to how printed batteries compliment the energy eco-system. Trevor’s extensive industry experience and relationships with UQ and UNSW has been instrumental in establishing an industry led 3-way research collaboration into the development of printed batteries. Trevor St Baker is the founder of the St Baker Energy Innovation Fund, and together with his fellow director, Jeff Serkes from Palisade Capital Management, have helped the world re-imagine applications for light. Trevor St Baker is the founder of the St Baker Energy Innovation Fund and the passionate driving force behind Evie Networks mission, to electrify Australia. Co-founder Paul Fox and CEO Chris Mills comment that “Trevor is a pioneering investor in the Australian electric mobility sector. His 2014 investment in Tritium and 2017 investment in Evie Networks literally paved the way for the sector. Without Trevor’s vision, persistence and patience Evie Networks would not be able to roll out Australia’s largest fast charging network.”
