Evie Networks and Viva Energy Australia drive electric vehicle uptake in Tasmania
Evie Networks and Viva Energy Australia drive electric vehicle uptake in Tasmania.
The new rapid charging station, that feature Tritium's ultra-fast chargers, is the second of three planned for Tasmania by Evie Networks.
In line with Tasmania’s commitment to clean energy and efficient transport, Brighton’s new ultra-fast EV charging terminal opened last week at the Shell Coles Express service station.
Tasmania is leading the way as Australia’s electric vehicle capital, with Evie Networks fuelling the state’s fast-growing uptake of electric vehicles (EVs). In line with Tasmania’s commitment to clean energy and efficient transport, Brighton’s new ultra-fast EV charging terminal will open today at the Shell Coles Express service station, which is located one hour north of Hobart.
This new site links Tasmania’s capital city with the beautiful southern wine trail, giving EV tourists the freedom to explore this iconic destination.
The island state is home to the third-highest number of EV drivers per capita, beaten only by ACT and SA; according to a 2020 report by the Electric Vehicle Council.
Evie Networks CEO, Chris Mills says: “Tasmania is ahead of the curve, and so we are investing in a market that supports us. ”
This year alone, Evie’s existing Tasmanian charger in Campbell Town has had the highest number of charging sessions in the country.
“Viva Energy is delighted to be working in partnership with Evie Networks to explore EVs as a future energy solution that can fuel the desire Australians have for sustainable transport,” said Viva Energy’s alternative fuels manager Sandra Lau.
