Novonix will be testing High Purity Lithium in Batteries
Clean lithium developer Lake Resources NL (ASX:LKE) announced high purity results from tests carried out at Hazen Research Inc, a world-renowned independent process laboratory.
High purity 99.97% lithium carbonate produced by Hazen Research Inc from lithium chloride produced at the Lilac Solutions pilot plant module from Lake’s Kachi brines.
The process laboratory Hazen will continue to produce lithium carbonate samples over the coming weeks, targeting 5kg to 6kg in this round. Samples will be sent to Novonix Limited (ASX:NVX), to be tested together with commercial battery cathode precursor materials in NMC622 batteries.
In addition, using Novonix’s pilot cell line and proprietary advanced diagnostic tools, the performance of Lake’s high purity, lithium product will be evaluated for conformity with lithium-ion battery industry standards. Significantly, this data will allow potential users and off-takers of Lake’s product to make direct and relevant comparisons of its performance to familiar cell chemistries. Testing will take a minimum of four months and the first results are expected two months after the first cathode material is produced.
