Oxbotica, a UK-based autonomous vehicle software provider, has raised $140 million in a Series C funding round to expand its Universal Autonomy system in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific. The funds will also help to accelerate the deployment of Oxbotica's autonomy software in industries where there is urgent demand and potential for scalability, such as agriculture, airports, energy, goods delivery, mining, and shared passenger transportation.
The company has cited several partners and customers for applications including self-driving deliveries, personnel transport, and industrial service, and plans to launch autonomous passenger shuttles and industry-specific vehicles in 2024 in partnership with Applied EV (our investee company), bp, NEVS, and ZF.
A software-defined vehicle from partner Applied EV, driven by Oxbotica, has already operated with no onboard driver on a publicly accessible road in Oxford.
Moreover, Applied EV and Ocado Group have partnred with Oxbotica for autonomous deliveries in the U.K.
